At least six people were killed while 50 people were injured in a terror attack on Sunday in Central London, in which three assailants were also shot dead by the police.

At about 22:00 BST, a white van bulldozed several pedestrians on London Bridge then three men then left the vehicle and stabbed a number of people in Borough Market, south of the bridge, an area known for its restaurants and bars.

Eyewitnesses told the police the suspects, while attacking, were shouting “This is for Allah.”

“The suspects were wearing what looked like explosive vests but these were later established to be hoaxes,” Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said. “We are treating this as a terrorist incident and a full investigation is already under way.”

Prime Minister Theresa May described the incidents as “dreadful events” and will hold a meeting of the government’s Cobra emergency committee later. Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan called it “a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners.”

The London Bridge attack was the third terror act in the United Kingdom in just three weeks.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump showed support and tweeted “Whatever the United States can do to help out in London and the UK, we will be there – we are with you. God bless!”
