The social media app Snapchat ran a very controversial and insensitive ad that simply asked users if they would rather “Slap Rihanna” or “Punch Chris Brown,”last week appearing to make light of Brown’s 2009 felony assault on Rihanna. Snapchat issued an apology for the ad and stated “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware.”
However, the pop superstar was not having it and released her on statement via Instagram “You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!!!” she wrote on her Instagram Story today. “This isn’t about my personal feelings… but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet…. You let us down!”
