Controversial former head of the Washington state NAACP chapter Rachel Dolezal who lied about being Black is currently facing charges of felony theft in Washington state after allegedly lying to secure over $9,000 in government welfare assistance.
Dolezal who legally changed her name to Nkechi Diallo in 2016, to help with applying for jobs allegedly made false statements on government forms with the intent of defrauding the welfare system. She’s also been charged with perjury.
“The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) stated they began looking into Dolezal’s financial records following the release of her memoir, In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World. They were reportedly under the impression, “her only source of income was $300.00 per month in gifts from friends,” according to the department.”
