A new queen is ready to take over the Universe and this time, she will be campaigning for dental and oral care around the world.
23-year-old beauty Iris Mittenaere prevailed over 86 lovely contestants vying for the Miss Universe title in the contest held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
Stunning in her gold-sequined gown, the dental surgery student from Northern France brought her country its first Miss Universe crown in 64 years.
“This sash is not only a sash,” Mittenaere said in a Miss Universe interview after the pageant. “This is something to help people, to understand people.”
On the other hand, in her farewell remarks as outgoing winner, a smiling Pia Wurtzbach thanked Steve Harvey for making her “the most popular Miss Universe.” Harvey, laughing, thanked her for making him the “most famous” Miss Universe host.
Closing the ceremony saying “I got it right,” Harvey also shared what he learned in life, which is moving forward when you made a mistake.
Alongside Miss France, Miss Haiti Racquel Pellisier and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar clinched the first and second runner-up titles, respectively.
