According to Bloody Disgusting, Jordan Peele is in talks to remake the classic ’90s horror film Candyman through Monkeypaw Productions. The Key & Peele star would serve as a producer for the remake (it’s unknown if he would direct it too). If Peele actually ends up remaking the movie it probably wouldn’t be released anytime soon. He’s currently filming Us, a social thriller, while Moneypaw is handling a handful of other projects including a remake of The Twilight ZoneThe Hunt and Lovecraft Country.

The original Candyman was released in 1992. An adaptation of Clive Barker‘s Books of Blood short story “The Forbidden,” the film featured an antagonist by the name of Candyman (played by Tony Todd), an artist and son of a slave who had his hand severed and was then murdered with bees by his lover’s father. One of the more notable parts of the film was how Candyman is summoned: by saying his name five times while looking in a mirror. The film resulted in two sequels, the latter being direct-to-video.
