MTV’s Rob & Big star Christopher Boykin, aka “Big Black,” passed away on Tuesday morning due to serious heart issues.

Boykin’s ex-wife, Shannon Turley, told Radar in an exclusive interview that the reality star had heart issues for a while and had a defibrillator in his chest.

“Fluid was building up in his lungs…they couldn’t do anything, and then they tried to perform CPR on him for 30 minutes but it didn’t work,” Turley said, devastated of her husband’s final moments.

Before appearing on the show in 2006, Boykin served in the US Navy. He also started a clothing line named after his catchphrase, “Do work,” in 2007.

Rob Dyrdek, his best friend co-star in their Guinness World record-breaking show Rob & Big, expressed his feelings on Boykin’s death in social media. “My heart is broken. I don’t want write this post. I don’t want to believe that this is reality. I am so thankful for you,” Dyrdek posted.

Meanwhile, MTV released a statement regarding Big Black’s death.

“MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing … He was a long time and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.”

Moreover, Chanel West Coast, who appeared with Boykin on “Fantasy Factory” and “Ridiculousness,” also tweeted after news broke.

On May 3, Turley told TMZ that Boykin was hospitalized in Plano, Texas, for several days for heart monitoring. Boykin is revealed to be excluded from a list to receive a heart transplant, which doctors denied.
