call for funnyman J. Anthony Brown.
Brown is a titanic comedic force! His talent as an entertainer and sidesplitting antics have influenced
countless comedians and helped shape today’s Black comedy scene. As one of the foremost kings of
comedy, J. Anthony is finally receiving the accolades he so justly deserves.
In 2013, J. Anthony continues his 9-year run as co-host of nationally-syndicated radio show The Tom
Joyner Radio Show. Broadcast in over 100 markets, J. Anthony’s voice is heard by approximately 8 mil
lion listeners each week!
In television, he continues his role as Maurice in TV One’s
The Rickey Smiley Show, which airs its 2nd season in the
Fall 2013. In the show, J. Anthony’s character is a radio
station manager who is a former rapper, “Mo’ Sweets.” The
sitcom is the network’s highest rated show and for his part:

The South Carolina native began his career by chance in 1972 after relocating to Atlanta. He was origi
nally pursuing a career as a clothing designer when $316 short of tuition money, he visited a local club
and entered a gong show contest. The one-time tailor was asked back to the venue, and eventually
transformed the club into a city hot spot as word of his natural wit traveled quickly. Brown later left
Atlanta for Hollywood, landing a job as head staff writer for the Arsenio Hall Show.
An industry staple ever since, he boasts an impressive list of credits that include hosting two consecu
tive seasons of Comic View, performances on Def Jam, It’s Showtime at the Apollo, and Evening at the
Improv. Writing credits include Tom Joyner TV Show, Steve Harvey’s Big Time, Me and The Boys, The
Parent ‘Hood and the Arsenio Hall Show.
Movie credits include Think Like A Man, Triple X -State of the Union, Mr. 3000, Drumline, and How
