A paparazzi “provoked” One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, resulting the 25 year old singer to pull the photographer to the floor of Los Angeles Airport, Friday night.

“While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defense,” Tomlinson’s lawyer, Martin Singer, explained to the press.

Claiming baggages with off-again, on-again girlfriend Eleanor Calder, A police spokesperson told E! News that photographers surround the couple until some pushing and shoving happened. One of the photographers fell down and claimed he hurt himself. Tomlinson was subsequently placed under misdemeanor citizen’s arrest and later charged with simple battery.

“Witnesses stated that Tomlinson pulled the photographer to the floor by his legs, causing the victim to fall backwards and strike his back and head on the floor,” a LAX police officer told City News Service, according to NBC Los Angeles.

On the other hand, Calder got into a confrontation with a female witness who began filming the incident. Tomlinson rushed to Calder and the woman’s place then allegedly tried to take the woman’s phone by grabbing her wrist, striking her in the eye and falling to the floor.

The said photographer has been hospitalized but did not give a comment yet. The women, however, said she is going to press charges and Tomlinson’s “going to jail.”

Tomlinson was taken into police custody just after midnight and released after an hour after posting a $20,000 bond. The singer is set to return to court on March 29.
