The popular HBO fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’ mark history as the first episode of season seven ‘Dragonstone’ accumulated a total of 16.1M audience, making it the most-watched premiere night in HBO’s history.

Fans were all hyped as the different storylines of their favorite characters from Houses Stark, Targaryen, Lannister, and more unravel throughout the episode, promising a forceful comeback in the series’ realm.

Aside from having successful ratings, the premiere episode “Dragonstone” also received positive reviews from different critics and the netizens. CNN’s movie critic said the episode “exhibited a sense of urgency and purpose that past openers have sometimes lacked.”

“Despite the weighty expectations placed upon it, ‘Game of Thrones’ has consistently risen to the challenge,” Brian Lowry wrote. “If the season premiere is any indication of what’s ahead, this season’s arc is likely to again demonstrate that when it comes to lording over the TV universe, this one-for-the-ages drama is no pretender.”

Episode two entitled “Stormborn” is set to ablaze the audience next Sunday, July 23 at 9 PM.
